South West Roxy Cinema is situated in the historic School of Arts Community Hall, just a short walk from the centre of town, at the beach end of Gregory Street, South West Rocks, NSW.

Movie schedules are determined on Thursdays for films opening 14 days later. Sessions usually appear on the the South West Roxy Cinema website for the next 14 days. Better still, sign up for our weekly newsletter and add us to your Favourites.

We regret that our community hall venue makes sales of tickets online impossible. To ensure you receive the best customer service we encourage all our patrons to visit the South West Roxy Cinema, approx. 10 minutes before show time, to purchase your tickets.

Tickets are sold and patrons seated on a “first-in, best dressed” basis. We recommend you arrive 10-15 minutes before start time so you can select your favourite seat.

No. The South West Roxy Cinema does not surrently operate a rewards programme. Our low everyday prices mean that everyone can enjoy a low cost movie experience!

All sessions at the South West Roxy Cinema are presented with 21st century digital technology. Digital projection ensures better, brighter, sharper, steadier, scratch-free images for the film's entire season, while digital surround sound places you right in the middle of the action!

The distributor of a film will stipulate NO FREE TICKETS on selected films for a set duration. This restriction will not apply to the entire season of a film - usually only weeks 1 and 2 (except 3D films). If a voucher or pass is not valid for NO FREE TICKET movies it will be stated in the conditions on the back of the pass. Check our programme for the NO FREE TICKETS schedule to ensure you will not be disappointed.

The length of time any film will play at the South West Roxy Cinema is based on the amount of business the film generates, contractual obligations and time of the year. Basically, the more popular a film is with patrons, the longer it will play. There is no way to predict exactly how long a movie will play. Use our website to get information on what films will be playing up to seven days in advance.

It is our policy to ensure we offer a wide range of films covering most audiences and genres. With programming however we are governed by the Official release dates of the Distributors films and the availability of digital distribution files throughout Australia.

The South West Roxy Cinema has a policy of all seats at one price. This means that adults pay no more, while others, including children (regardless of age), pay no less. If you consider your child too young to enjoy the film, we respectfully ask that you not bring them into the cinema - both as a courtesy to other movie-goers and to ensure your own movie viewing experience is as enjoyable as possible.

The South West Roxy Cinema operates Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, plus public and school holidays. Sessions are shown only for those days.

Questions about 3D at South West Roxy

The ticket price of all tickets for the South West Roxy Cinema Digital 3D sessions is just $14. All seats for all ages are the same price. Real D 3D glasses are available to buy for $1 if required.

The surcharge is to cover the additional costs of the superior quality 3D system used by the South West Roxy Cinema. Additional film hire charges and Real D Licence fees must be paid by the cinema for 3D screenings.

You get cool glasses and a unique movie experience! 3D works by presenting viewers with a slightly separated set of images for the left and the right eye in such quick succession that our brain perceives the images as appearing at the same time and having a field of depth. The glasses ensure that the right eye only see the images intended for right eye and the same for the left eye.

You will be able to use your the South West Roxy Cinema gift vouchers for 3D movies but a $2 surcharge will apply. Real D 3D glasses are available to buy for $1 if required.

Unfortunately cinema tickets cannot be refunded once the film has begun.

Our two sizes in 3D glasses are designed to fit easily and comfortably on any guests that are over 3 years old. We do not recommend children under 3 attend digital 3D films for this reason as they will not be able to experience the full impact of digital 3D without the glasses. However children of any age may attend and a child under 3 attending a 3D film must pay the usual $13 ticket price.

Of course! Our 3D glasses are designed to fit comfortably over prescription glasses.

Yes. Save the planet and save money! Retain your Real D 3D glasses for use on your next visit!

The South West Roxy Cinema will screen a 2D version of some 3D movies depending on availability. It is not possible to view a 3D session without 3D glasses. Please attend a designated 2D session if you prefer not to watch your film in 3D.

Questions about open captions at South West Roxy

Open caption screenings have captions on the screen enabling the hearing impaired to follow the film's dialogue. They are similar to the sub-titles on foreign language films.

Open caption sessions are specified in our press and handbill advertising. They are also shown in green and marked "O/C" on our session listing on this website.

Certainly. Open captions enable everyone, regardless of their hearing abilities, to enjoy the film together. Families with a hearing impaired member are able to enjoy a film together, as a family, with everyone able to participate equally.

No. Open captions appear on the cinema screen, just like foreign language film sub-titles. There is no need to look down to a screen at your seat. Hearing impaired people have been found to prefer the on-screen open caption system which enables them to stay focussed on the cinema screen throughout the film.
